Types of Therapy Offered
-
I help clients overcome anxiety, stressors, life transitions (divorce, empty nest, transition to college, grief), family issues, trauma, marriage, pregnancy, and relationships. Together, we will create a safe, non judgmental space to work toward your goals.
-
I enjoy working with older adolescents, particularly teenage girls experiencing anxiety related to school, peers, sports, and transitioning to college. Short term therapy is often able to explore strengths, identify coping skills. and increase effective use of current support systems leading to reduced anxiety and increased confidence.
-
The transition to college can be a challenging time for older adolescents and young adults. Senior year can be stressful as students navigate rigorous course loads, sports, college application and acceptance processes, and facing leaving family, often for the first time. I enjoy working with this population as they navigate senior year and if the student attends a Virginia college, we can continue telehealth counseling as the student adjusts to their new college life!
-
Women face unique emotional and psychological experiences—often influenced by societal expectations, life transitions, and personal experiences. Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to explore these issues, whether you're navigating relationships, career pressures, motherhood, trauma, self-esteem, or simply feeling overwhelmed.
Together, we will explore these emotions and experiences and develop skills and supports to increase your overall wellbeing.
-
First Responders have unique job related experiences that may lead to stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, or burnout. I have extensive experience working with the first responder community which has allowed me to develop an understanding of the ways in which these roles can affect mental health. One of my passions is to bring awareness to the benefits of therapy for first responders in order to help increase the overall wellbeing of this population.
Veterans may also experience a unique set of circumstances from navigating reentry into civilian life to processing experiences while serving.
Therapy can help first responders and veterans process these experiences and the impact on themselves as well as their family. Identification of coping skills. self care skills, and support systems often allows first responders and veterans to more effectively function at work, home, and socially.
Family members of first responders and veterans may also face unique challenges. Together, we can explore ways in which to manage the wide range of emotions and experiences that these family members often experience.
